Los Angeles police apprehended a shooting suspect Monday, tackling the man after he led officers on a high-speed pursuit involving multiple vehicles.
The chase began around noon in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood, KTTV-TV reports. During the pursuit, the suspect abandoned his moving car and took off with another vehicle.
Police continued to pursue the suspect through the Inglewood area and then to the Florence neighborhood, ignoring stop signs and traffic lights and hitting speeds of up to 100 mph along residential streets. The suspect also dangerously swerved around pedestrians and other vehicles.
As the suspect approached the airport shortly before 12:30 p.m., he then turned around and tried to merge onto the 405 Freeway. His path, however, was blocked by a truck.
The suspect exited his car and fled on foot. Officers finally tackled and brought him to the ground.
No details were given concerning the shooting. No one was injured during the chase.
