A 69-year-old man with a high-powered rifle drove up to the New York State Police barracks in Malta and began firing before he was fatally shot by troopers.
“Our city mourns the tragic loss of an 18th District Chicago Police officer. Our hearts are shattered and broken over this tragedy," said Mayor Brandon Johnson.
Built between the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Olyphant police station has cramped conditions that keep officers "squished in like sardines right now," says the chief.
