The NYPD academy will be renamed the Steven D. McDonald Police Academy, after Det. Steven McDonald, who was shot and paralyzed in Central Park in 1986 and died in 2017.
The NYPD academy will be named for Det. Steven McDonald, who was shot three times and paralyzed in 1986, dying from complications in 2017.
