Dallas Police Officer Shot During Pursuit of Erratic Driver

Five suspects were arrested and another suspect is still being sought after an undercover Dallas police officer was shot and wounded while chasing an erratic driver.

A Dallas police was shot and wounded during a pursuit of a suspect who was driving erratically early Thursday.

The chase began at about 12:45 a.m. when undercover police spotted a driving traveling erratically, KTVT-TV reports. As the car was followed by an unmarked cruiser, a suspect in the car opened fire

At least one shot penetrated the cruiser's driver side door and struck an officer in the hip. The officer was rushed to the hospital, underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

The pursuit continued after the officer was injured, with helicopter air support brought in to help. Eventually, five arrests were made, and one suspect is currently being sought.

Two guns were recovered, with one thrown from the car and another inside the vehicle. Two suspects were treated at the hospital.
