A man apparently dressed in a woman's sundress and other mismatched clothing was apprehended by the LAPD after he clashed with doughnut shop employees during a chaotic robbery in May.
The incident happened May 28, and it was captured on security and police body camera footage. A 41-year-old man—later identified as Christopher Hall—walked into a Winchell's doughnut shop dressed in what appeared to be a green woman's frock with a pink sweater wrapped around his waist and wearing a large straw hat.
Hall threatened an employee at the front counter with a knife and a gun, which was later determined to be an airsoft replica handgun, KABC-TV reports. He then Hall moved to the back room of the shop and faced resistant employees in a wild showdown.
A fight broke out, with Hall throwing a tray of cinnamon rolls, and the employees tossing money at Hall before slamming a food cart into him. Hall finally fled the shop as a defiant employee threw a chair at the suspect as he ran down the street.
Police caught up with Hall, and a foot pursuit ensued. When officers located him in between two buildings, Hall was frantically trying to change clothes.
An officer confronted Hall, who pointed his fake gun at him. Police opened fire, but Hall was not struck.
Finally, Hall tossed the gun down, and a Taser was deployed to subdue him. He was taken into custody and faces robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges.
The incident is under investigation.
