Attleboro police have charged a Rhode Island man accused of breaking into and vandalizing a Massachusetts middle school and assaulting three police officers following his arrest, according to a department press release.

Jamison Grover, 25, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, 13 counts of malicious destruction of property over $1,200, larceny from a building, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and three counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

Attleboro Police said the incident began Sunday at 4:43 a.m. when officers responded to Brennan Middle School after the alarm system detected motion in several locations inside the building.

Multiple officers searched the school and found that numerous lockers had been rummaged through.

Police said officers searching the school and surrounding area found Grover inside a parked police cruiser outside Brennan Middle School. He was arrested after officers found him in the vehicle.

Grover was combative and uncooperative, police said, adding that he shouted and swore at officers. Police said he later assaulted three Attleboro officers at the station.

Officers said they found property belonging to a Brennan Middle School student when they searched Grover.

Police also found 13 damaged window screens at the school, with the damage estimated at more than $1,200.

Grover was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for evaluation. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court, the outcome of which could not immediately be determined Monday afternoon.
