Security and body camera footage released last week shows a gas station confrontation between a man and a Georgia police officer days before the suspect is accused of fatally shooting the officer.

According to authorities, Warm Spring Police Sgt. Chris Fisher had stopped Jimmy Steverson on Aug. 27 after he had smelled what seemed to be marijuana coming from Steverson's trucky, WRBL-TV reports. Stevenson pulled into a gas station and exited his vehicle, telling Fisher he had been drinking.

Fisher began struggling with Fisher as the sergeant tried to handcuff him, and footage from a station security camera and Fisher's bodycam captured the fight. The two fell to the ground, and they continued to hit one another.

Fisher was able to break away from Steverson and deploy his Taser. Only one of the device's probe made complete contact with Steveson, striking his earlobe.

Fisher eventually was able to cuff Steverson and take him into custody. Two AR-style rifles, a Micro Draco pistol and over $5,000 were recovered at the scene.

Five days after the incident on Sept. 1, Steverson allegedly shot and killed Fisher while he sat in his cruiser following an unrelated traffic stop. On Sept. 2, Steverson, a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over in South Carolina, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and he was taken the hospital, where he later died.

No motive has been determined by authorities, and Fisher's killing is still under investigation.
