Body camera footage captured a shooting that wounded a Georgia police officer last month and led to an hourslong standoff when the accused gunman barricaded himself in a room.

The shooting happened just after 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 14 when Sandy Springs police responded to a call concerning shots fired inside a home, the department stated in a news release that included the body camera video from the incident. When police reached the scene, officers approached the home and were met with gunfire.

Police returned fire, and an officer was struck in the exchange. According to WSB-TV, dozens of shots were fired, and the wounded officer's thumb was grazed by a bullet.

Following the shootout, the suspect barricaded himself inside a room.

A SWAT unit was called in for the ensuing standoff. The suspect remained in the room for about two hours before surrendering to police.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
