"Together, alongside nursing home staff and members of the community, our Police and Fire departments worked as one to protect and care for those who needed help," the police department stated. "This is what community and public safety look like. This is what Glendale does."

Two brothers who lived nearby also helped rescue residents from the blaze, KTLA-TV reports. Seven people who were pulled from the burning building were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters put out the flames, and the fire caused part of the building to collapse. According to the chief, an exploding oxygen tank was the likely cause of the fire, but the incident is still under investigation.
