Watch Calif. Police Save Family from Burning Apartment

Aug. 4, 2023
Body camera footage captured Brea police officers racing to evacuate apartments as flames and smoke from a fully engulfed unit threatened to spread.

California police officers braved flames from a burning apartment building to help rescue a family still inside Tuesday.

Brea police responded to a fire at Country Hills Apartments, and when they arrived, they discovered one unit fully engulfed in flames, the department stated in a social media post. Officers then quickly began helping to evacuate neighboring apartments that were being damaged by the fire.

Body camera footage showed officers racing upstairs to rescue a family that was still inside a smoky apartment. In the video, an officer is seen picking up a child and leading other residents downstairs to safety.

The fire was finally extinguished, and no one was injured.

"We want to thank our partners at the Brea Fire Department and the alert neighbors who called 911 and helped evacuate residents before police officers arrived," the department stated.
