Watch Man Jump Off Overpass to Unsuccessfully Flee Minn. Police

When Eagan police pulled over a car in connection with a theft investigation, a passenger bolted from the vehicle and tried to flee officers by leaping off an interstate overpass in Mendota Heights.

A passenger in a car that had been fleeing Minnesota police bolted from the vehicle and jumped off an interstate overpass in an unsuccessful attempt to escape officers over the weekend.

The strange incidentwhich was caught on video by a Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic camera—happened at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday as Eagan police were pursuing a car in connection with a theft investigation along Interstate 35E in Mendota Heights, WCCO-TV reports. The car stopped on an overpass, and the driver got out and surrendered to police.

While officers were handcuffing the driver, a passenger exited the car and began fleeing from police on foot. As an officer began catching up with the passenger, the man leaped off the side of the overpass.

The passenger was injured in the fall, and he was still in the hospital early Monday. He was expected to be charged with felony theft and obstruction. The driver in the incident also faces the same charges.
