Sept. 13, 2022
Security camera footage released by the Phoenix Police Department captures the moments a gunman opened fire outside a hotel in August, killing three and wounding several others, including two officers.
Video footage was released last week that captured an August shooting spree in Phoenix that left three people dead—including the gunman—and several people injured, including two police officers.
Isiah Steven Williams is accused of arming himself with a semi-automatic rifle and opening fire in a hotel parking lot Aug. 28, The Arizona Republic reports. Two people entering the lot in a car were fatally shot.
Security camera footage released by the Phoenix Police Department shows Williams carrying a rifle as he exits a hotel room and walking out into the parking lot. Williams also is seen wearing tactical gear.
The suspect walked toward a neighboring restaurant and tossed a Molotov cocktail that didn't ignite in the direction of a window. Once police arrived at the scene, Williams exchanged gunfire with the officers.
One officer was wounded in the shoulder, and another was struck by shrapnel. Police advanced on Williams once the shooting stopped, and officers found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
