In 1994 they initially entered the firefighting equipment industry. In 1996 the company launched their first e-commerce site in response to demands from firefighters. In 2004 the company launched OfficerStore.com as they began to serve the needs of the law enforcement portion of the public safety market. Since 2005 the company has made three strategic acquisitions to position Witmer Public Safety Group as one of the nation's largest suppliers to both markets.

Distribution channels include two globally recognized e-commerce sites, four retail locations in Pennsylvania and Maryland, plus a large regional direct sales force made up primarily of experienced firefighters, law enforcement officers and former members of the military who are able to provide the personal attention and support each customer requires.
