Michigan police chased down a kidnapping suspect Monday who sped through multiple communities before crashing the SUV he was driving and jumping out of the still-moving vehicle in an unsuccessful attempt to escape on foot.
The incident happened when Warren police began pursuing a possible kidnapping suspect, WJBK-TV reports. As the chase progressed, the suspect drove through Westland, and police in that jurisdiction joined in.
Finally, the suspect reached Inkster, and a home security camera captured officers closing in on the SUV. As the vehicle crashed into a house in the neighborhood, the suspect leapt from the vehicle and began running.
Westland police apprehended the suspect, and the man was arrested. Two women also exited the SUV, with one passenger consoling the other.
No details were released concerning what kicked off the chase or what charges the suspect faces. Warren police told WJBK that the incident is in the early stages of an investigation.
