Watch Mich. Police Catch Driver in Attempted Carjacking after Chase

Michigan authorities arrested a man who crashed his car and tried to carjack another vehicle following a chase by officers Saturday.

Video footage recorded by a motorist captured the tense incident that unfolded at around 10:15 a.m. along State Road 222 in Allegan County, mlive.com reports. An Allegan County sheriff's deputy had tried a car for a traffic violation, but the driver fled.

After doing a U-Turn in a parking lot, the driver crashed into and disabled a police cruiser before continuing to flee.

Once the driver reached U.S. 131, a Michigan State Police trooper tried to pull over the car with no success. Eventually, the car crashed into a median.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into traffic. That's when he tried to carjack a stopped vehicle, forcing himself into the driver's seat.

Police reached the scene as the suspect tried to drive away and pulled him out of the vehicle.

The suspect faces multiple charges from the incident, and he also was wanted on outstanding warrants.
