Security camera footage captured a marked Miami police cruiser being flung into the air after a multi-vehicle collision involving suspects in a Mercedes-Benz who refused to stop for undercover detectives.

A Miami police officer and a civilian were seriously injured in a violent multi-vehicle collision Tuesday.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. when undercover detectives tried to stop a black Mercedes-Benz that matched the description of a car involved in a March armed robbery, WSVN-TV reports. The car refused to pull over and sped through a red light before slamming into a marked police cruiser and another vehicle.

The collision's impact was caught in security camera footage, which showed debris and the police vehicle being flung through the air.

Two suspects fled the Mercedes on foot following the collision, but police were able to apprehend them. Two 9mm handguns with extended magazines also were recovered from the Mercedes.

A police officer and a civilian were rushed to the hospital in serious condition. The officer suffered a broken nose and cuts to his head, while the civilian suffered several broken bones. Both were treated before being released from the hospital to recover at home.

The two suspects face a string of charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with bodily injury, resisting a police officer, driving with a suspended license and carrying a concealed weapon.
