Miami-Dade Motorcycle Officer Injured in Collision with SUV

According to a preliminary investigation, a Miami-Dade motorcycle officer was headed to training in Miami Springs when he was cut off by an SUV near Miami International Airport.

A Miami-Dade police motorcycle officer was injured in a collision with an SUV near the Miami International Airport on Thursday.

The crash happened as the officer was headed to training in Miami Springs, the Miami Herald reports. According to a preliminary investigation, an SUV apparently cut off the officer at an intersection, shutting down traffic in the area.

The officer, a 15-year veteran working in the department's Kendall district, was awake and alert following the collision. He was taken to the hospita, and his injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

The SUV's driver refused medical treatment at the scene.
