Boston Police Officer Seriously Injured in Multi-Car Crash

A Boston police officer suffered serious injuries in a multi-car crash early Monday.

The incident happened at about 12:40 a.m. near the Franklin Park Zoo in the Dorchester neighborhood, WBZ-TV reports. The officer was responding to a shooting before the collision involving several other cars.

The officer was taken to the hospital with "serious but non-life-threatening injuries," according to police. The impact of the crash crumpled the front of the officer's cruiser.

At least one other person was injured in the crash.
