A Lancaster County police officer was dragged several feet by the car of a man who was trying to avoid arrest on domestic violence charges this week, authorities said.
The officer was not injured, but Raul Santos has since been charged with felony aggravated assault of a police officer, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional police.
Police said officers found Santos in his car around 9:49 a.m. Wednesday on Agape Drive in Clay Township. They instructed him to get out of his car, but Santos refused, according to police.
Santos sped away and crashed into a parked car a few blocks away, police said. According to police, he ran off and was found hiding under the porch of a nearby home.
In addition to the aggravated assault charge, police said Santos is facing the original domestic assault charge as well as fleeing and eluding apprehension. He was arraigned and taken to Lancaster County Prison to await a preliminary hearing.
