Fla. Deputy Suffers 'Significant Injuries' in Patrol Motorcycle Crash

A Volusia County sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert following an accident involving a department motorcycle and another vehicle in Volusia.

A Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized Wednesday morning after their patrol motorcycle was involved in a vehicle crash near a Volusia intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At around 7:20 a.m. a crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle occurred near the intersection of Saxon Boulevard and Merrimac Lane, said the FHP’s Lt. Kim Montes.

The deputy was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert, Montes said.

No information on the other driver has been released at this time.
