Video: Fla. Police Arrest Woman Loading Gun in Hospital ER
Florida police arrested a woman after she tried to load a gun while she sat in a hospital emergency room early Wednesday.
A staffer at Bradenton's Blake Hospital called 9-1-1 shortly after 2:15 a.m. after a woman was spotted on security camera footage loading a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 handgun, the police department stated in a social media post. Before officers arrived, a security guard approached the woman and seized the weapon—a semi-automatic firearm outfitted with a laser sight—from her purse.
Once they reached the hospital, officers surrounded the woman, and she was taken into custody without incident, which was captured on a police body-worn camera. Along with the gun seized by hospital security, police also recovered the following items:
- a 50-round, drum-style, high-capacity magazine with 36 loaded rounds
- two magazines with 13 loaded rounds
- 14 loose rounds
The woman, 37 was charged with two felonies: introducing a firearm into a hospital and possession of a concealed weapon without a concealed weapon permit.
The incident is still under investigation.
