After firing a shot, Croteau exited the lobby. Once outside, she was confronted by three officers, who opened fire.

"(S)he was still holding the firearm when she's confronted by the officers," said Marino.

Croteau was struck by the gunfire and rushed to the hospital. She was in stable condition, according to reports.

No officers or department employees were injured in the incident. No motive had been determined in the shooting, Marino said. 

Although no one was injured, Marino said the department would provide resources to help with the mental wellness of the civilian employees.

"We will do some type of critical incident debrief for them, give them the resources that they need and try to help them get through it, as well as the officers, too," he said.

The shooting is under investigation.
