TAMPA, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has released video of deputies providing lifesaving aid to an unresponsive 4-year-old child on Interstate 275 over the weekend.
At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 24, deputies responded to a report of a person down on I-275 involving a child who was not breathing and had no pulse, according to a news release.
Upon arrival, deputies immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rescue breathing.
Deputies continued lifesaving measures until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived on scene and assumed medical care. The child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital and was later listed in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident underscores the operational importance of rapid response, emergency medical training, and coordination between law enforcement and fire-rescue personnel during critical medical emergencies.
