A Florida police officers were reunited Tuesday with the 2-year-old girl who they helped revive over the weekend after she had fallen into a swimming pool.
The rescue happened Saturday when Doral police responded to a call of a girl who was unresponsive after she was pulled out of a swimming pool, WPLG-TV reports. Her father had jumped into the pool to reach the girl, and when she was brought on land, she had no pulse.
“When these officers arrived, several passersby said, ‘Don’t even attempt to save the baby’s life,’” said Police Chief Edwin Lopez.
When Officer Yisbella Valdes reached the scene, she began performing CPR on the girl. As she continued her rescue efforts, the girl finally began breathing.
Medics took over after that, and the girl was rushed to the hospital. The girl has recovered, and she was able to meet with the first responders who saved her life.
