FORT MYERS, Florida -- Last month a deputy with the Lee County Sheriff's Office helped save the life of an infant who was not breathing.
On June 18, Deputy Michelle Wilson responded to Fuchsia Road in Fort Myers after getting the call for the 3-month-old infant, according to a news release.
When Wilson arrived on the scene, she found the infant named Wylder, turning blue, not breathing, and without a pulse. She immediately took control of the situation and began chest compressions until a pulse was established. EMS arrived and transported Wylder to Golisano Children's Hospital where she was admitted into the NICU.
Wylder has since been discharged is now recovering at home.
"Without Deputy Wilson's heroic actions, Wylder may not have survived the medical event," the Lee County Sheriff's Office wrote in statement. "Thank you, Deputy Wilson!"
