BELTON, Texas -- A Belton police officer and two Texas Highway Patrol troopers had a close call on Tuesday when tractor-trailer lost control and almost hit them.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was traveling on southbound I-35 when the vehicle crossed a median and two lanes of frontage road before coming to a rest on the side of the road, according to a news release.
The officer and troopers were at the scene, south of the Holland Road, working another 18-wheeler crash that occurred at the same location less than an hour earlier.
The first crash occurred at 1:56 p.m., while the second crash occurred at 2:45 p.m.
"We are grateful nobody was seriously hurt in either incident and remind people to adjust driving speeds to match weather conditions," Belton police officials said in a statement. "Lives are literally at stake.Also, remember when you see emergency lights move over or slow down."
