Two Osceola County, Florida Sheriff's deputies are recovering after a vehicle struck their department motorcycles while they were escorting a funeral procession for a victim of the Pulse nightclub shooting over the weekend.

Deputies Steve Flanary and Paul Spears were injured when officials say 44-year-old Ivonne Robles Morales pull out into the procession around 11:30 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Central Avenue and Donegan Avenue in Kissimmee, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

Both deputies were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that required surgery. Morales was taken to Florida Hospital Kissimmee, though not for accident-related injuries.

On Monday, Gov. Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott visited Flanary and Spears at the hospital.

"Both deputies are recovering from injuries they sustained while working a funeral escort on Saturday," the department said in a statement. "We appreciate all of your positive comments and will continue to provide you updates on their progress."
