Body camera and drone footage captured a deadly clash between Oklahoma police and an accused rapist who tried to escape officers by jumping a barbed wire-topped fence while naked and brandishing a handgun earlier this month.
The incident happened at around 6 a.m. June 4 when Oklahoma City police officers were serving a search warrant at a residence for Jose Martinez, 40, KFOR-TV reports. Authorities had been searching for Martinez for over a week in connection with three counts of first-degree rape.
When officers arrived at the home, Martinez fled out the back door, wearing no clothes and carrying a gun. He ran into a wooded area but was confronted by an officer after he tossed his gun over a barbed wire-topped chain link fence that he was scaling.
Martinez ignored an officer's commands to surrender, and he retrieved his gun once he reached the ground. Again, the officer ordered Martinez to surrender, and he is heard telling the officer he would have to kill him before the suspect was fatally shot.
The shooting is under investigation.
