Watch Bystander Tackle Suspect Fleeing Okla. Police

Tulsa police were chasing a man wanted on multiple felony warrants when he was stopped by a driver who jumped out of his pickup truck and tackled the suspect.

Oklahoma police got help from a bystander in apprehending a fleeing man wanted on multiple felony warrants last week.

The incident, which was caught on video by a Tulsa police officer's body camera, happened at about 11:30 a.m. July 13, according to an online update by the department. Officers were questioning a man when he suddenly bolted and began running down the street.

As police gave chase, a driver stopped his pickup truck, jumped out of his vehicle and tackled the suspect. Officers quickly caught up and took the suspect into custody.

The man—identified as Miguel Hernandez—was wanted on felony warrants in Rogers County for burglary, conspiracy, larceny and illegal firearm possession. He also was charged with resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"We love our citizens and greatly appreciate all the support that we get from you, this was definitely a case of 110% support," the department stated. "Please put your own safety first before engaging with any nefarious characters."
