California police officers are being praised for saving a choking 3-year-old child, and the rescue was captured in body camera footage.

Rialto police responded to a 911 call just after noon on Aug. 5 about a child having difficulty breathing because of an obstruction, the department stated in a social media post. When the first officer reached the scene, he immediatly used a LifeVac device to try to remove the obstruction.

"After several compressions, the obstruction was successfully cleared, and the child regained consciousness," the department stated.

A second officer administered back blos to the child to make sure there wasn't an additional blockage. The child was then rushed to the hospital for treatment.

"This incident is a reminder that seconds matter in an emergency," the department stated. "The caller’s decision to immediately contact 911, combined with the officers’ quick response and training, helped provide the child with the care needed during a critical situation."
