“Please, please, I don’t know what’s wrong, officer,” a man says in body camera footage as he flags down a Los Angeles police officer for help with a choking, unresponsive child.

A Los Angeles police officer is being praised for his quick response to save a choking toddler's life

Earlier this week, the department released body camera footage involving a Los Angeles police sergeant on patrol at an Echo Park intersection, KNBC-TV reports. It shows a man racing toward the officer's vehicle with an unresponsive child, while trying to flag down the sergeant.

“Please, please, I don’t know what’s wrong, officer,” a man can be heard saying in the video.

As the man explains that the girl had been in the car when she started choking, the officer begins performing quick thrusts to the child's back. Soon, the child's airway is cleared.

“There, something came out,” the sergeant says in the video.

The girl was taken to the hospital before she was treated and released.
