When police reached the scene, they heard multiple gunshots. That's when they saw an armed man running backward and firing shots at a building.

Body camera footage released Wednesday shows the suspect emerging from between housing units, firing his weapon. Police say it's unclear who the suspect was shooting at as police were approaching.

Officers opened fire, and the suspect was struck. They provided medical aid to the man, who was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting is under investigation.
