A suspect in a deadly shooting at a party at a Texarkana events venue turned himself in to police after authorities talked to the man's friends and families.

A 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday in connection with a mas shooting during a Texas Halloween party over the weekend that killed one person and injured nine.

The deadly incident happened just before midnight Saturday at Octavia's Activity Event Center in Texarkana, KSLA-TV reports. As police responded to reports of a shooting, officers encountered a throng of people fleeing the venue, with several people inside suffering gunshot wounds.

According to police, 10 people were injured and taken to the hospital, where one of the victims—a 20-year-old man—died of his injuries. The other nine victims suffered injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

An arrest warrant was issued for Keuntae McElroy in connection with the shooting. McElroy turned himself in to police Sunday after authorities spoke with his family and friends, and he is expected to face more charges Monday.

A couple hundred people were at the event center when the shooting broke out, police said.

"While the motive is still unknown, the preliminary investigation indicates that it may have been the result of some type of disturbance among some the partygoers," police said.
