Weekend (Feb. 28-March 2)

A rookie NYPD police officer who survived a shooting last week was released from the hospital on Friday.

Police say that Officer James Li was shot by Rashaun Robinson after being pulled off a bus for not paying. The 28-year-old wanted on a drug warrant in Pennsylvania later said he hates police and wanted to kill an officer.

A suspect facing capital murder charges in the death of Virginia State Police trooper was ruled incompetent to stand trial Friday.

Russell E. Brown will be treated at Central State Hospital in a bid to restore his competence to stand trial in the March 2013 death of Trooper Junius A. Walker.

A Loveland, Colo. police officer was shot during a traffic stop Sunday night.

Officer Garrett Osilka was transported to a local hospital and was being treated in the ICU and was listed in serious condition, but was expected to survive.

Officials say that Detective John Hobbs, who lay bleeding on the pavement, returned fire and killed William Thornton.

Thursday (March 6)
