Colorado Police Officer Shot During Traffic Stop

Loveland Police Officer Garrett Osilka was seriously wounded during a traffic stop late Sunday night.

Police in Loveland, Colo. searched for suspects Sunday night after they opened fire on a police officer during a traffic stop.

The officer, identified as Garrett Osilka, radioed for help after he was wounded in the area of 17th Street and Wilson Avenue around 7:48 p.m., according to The Reporter-Herald.

Sgt. Mike Halloran told the media that the officer was transported to a local hospital and was being treated in the ICU and was listed in serious condition.

Local hospitals were notified to be on the lookout if someone with a gunshot wound comes in, but it's not known if the suspect was injured.

Residents of the area from received an automated call telling them at least one armed suspect is on loose and advising them to stay inside.

Around 9:30 p.m., police reportedly took two people into custody after a traffic stop, but officials wouldn't confirm any connection to the officer's shooting.
