Man Accused of Torching, Shooting at Mich. State Police Cruisers Arrested

Sept. 8, 2023
Multiple Michigan State Police vehicles at the agency's Sault Ste. Marie Post were set on fire and shot at with rifle rounds by a man dressed in camouflage, who was caught on security camera footage.

Authorities arrested a man suspected of torching and shooting up multiple Michigan State Police cruisers this week.

Security camera footage captured a man dressed in camouflage as he set fire to and shot rifle rounds at several state police vehicles at the agency's Sault Ste. Marie Post early Wednesday. A day later, police arrested a suspect in the Sault Ste. Marie area, WDIV-TV reports.

No other details were released about the suspect or the arrest.

No one was injured in the initial incident. The vandalism did force the closing of other Michigan State Police posts and locations throughout the state "out of an abundance of caution."
