A Michigan State Police trooper had her hands full earlier this month with an unruly suspect who bit her and slipped out of handcuffs before speeding off with a cruiser.
The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. Aug. 3 when Michigan State Police responded to a domestic call in Muskegon County, WZZM-TV reports. In body camera footage, a woman identified as Cortney Morey is seen sitting on the ground while she talks with a trooper.
As the two continue to talk, Morey becomes more agitated as the trooper tries to take her into custody. The two begin to struggle, and the trooper yells at Morey to stop biting her.
More troopers arrive at the scene, and Morey is handcuffed and put inside a cruiser. While in the vehicle, she slips out of her handcuffs and gets behind the wheel, driving off.
Footage from inside and outside the cruiser captured Morey taking off with the vehicle. She eventually crashes into a swamp, and the cruiser needed to be pulled out of the water.
Morey was charged with multiple felonies, including assaulting a police officer, unlawful driving away, fleeing a police officer and malicious destruction of police property in connection to the incident.
