A Forsyth County sheriff's deputy executed a PIT maneuver that sent a car with four women accused of shoplifting inside off the roadway.
A Georgia sheriff's deputy used a PIT maneuver to stop a fleeing shoplifting suspect following a brief chase over the weekend.
The incident happened Saturday when a Forsyth County sheriff's deputy in the office's Crime Reduction Unit spotted a Ford Fusion with a paper tag and four women inside driving erratically, the agency stated in a news release. Earlier, the Dawson County Sheriff's Office had issued a BOLO for four women suspected of shoplifting in a Ford vehicle with a paper tag.
The deputy pulled over the car and gave commands through his cruiser's PA system. In video released by the sheriff's office, the suspected shoplifters speed away, and the deputy gives chase.
To end the pursuit, the deputy executed a PIT maneuver, sending the car spiraling to the side of the highway. The deputy was then able to take the women into custody.
