GREEN CITY, Missouri — A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper and five others were injured, and a Milan woman was killed in a head-on collision Monday morning on Highway 6, approximately 1.5 miles east of Green City.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Milan man crossed the center line and collided head-on with a patrol vehicle. The trooper involved has been identified as Colin Osborne, 28, of Kirksville. He was initially transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center and later transferred to University Hospital in Columbia. A hospital spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that Osborne is in fair condition, according to KTVO-TV.

Sgt. Justin Dunn said Osborne, who normally serves Adair County, was covering Sullivan County while filling in for another trooper when the crash occurred. The deceased has been identified as a 62-year-old woman from Milan. The five other passengers in the pickup sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

In response, the La Plata Police Department chaplain, Rev. Timothy Polley, is coordinating a collection of gift cards to assist Osborne and his family with travel and food expenses resulting from the incident. Donations can be dropped off at the La Plata Police Department, La Plata City Hall, or First Christian Church in Kirksville through Jan. 12.
