A Mississippi police officer was injured early Thursday when another car ran him off the road and into a tree.
The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. while Vicksburg Police Officer Jeremy Herrington was traveling near the intersection of Interstate 20 and Highway 61 North, Chief Penny L. Jones said in a press release posted on social media. That's when another vehicle forced his cruiser off the highway.
Once off the roadway, Herrington crashed into a tree in a ravine. He was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition.
"The crash is under investigation, and we are working the incident to determine further details," stated Jones. "We ask the community to keep Officer Herrington in their thoughts and prayers as we hope for his full and speedy recovery."
