A man wanted on multiple felony charges slammed into a California police motorcycle during a chase when the suspect returned to the scene of a domestic violence call last month.

The incident happened at around 8:15 a.m. July 21 when Simi Valley police responded to a domestic violence call, according to a department news release. The suspect, who officers determined could be arrested for domestic battery and elder abuse, had already fled the home and was reportedly armed, allegedly saying he would "shoot it out" with officers if they were called.

Police located the suspect just after 1:30 p.m., and officers tried to pull him over. The suspect refused to stop, kicking off a chase. 

During the pursuit, the suspect returned to the home where the initial domestic violence call originated. He stopped in front before driving off again.

In body camera footage from the incident, an officer parked his motorcycle in front of the home and stayed their to protect the occupants inside. The video shows the suspect driving by the house multiple times.

On his final pass of the house, the suspect drove at the officer in front of the home and crashed into his motorcycle. Folllowing the crash, police opened fire at the suspect's stopped pickup truck.

The suspect was struck by the gunfire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the chase or shooting.

The incident is under investigation.
