'I Just Wanted to Go Fast': Watch Fla. Troopers Stop Reckless Driver

April 3, 2024
In recently released dashboard camera footage, Florida Highway Patrol troopers used a PIT maneuver to stop a weaving BMW during a pursuit from Miami-Dade County to Broward County.

Dashboard camera footage captured Florida troopers stopping a reckless driver during a frantic interstate chase Friday.

The pursuit began when Florida Highway Patrol troopers spotted a BMW weaving in and out of traffic along Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County, WPLG-TV reports. The troopers tried to pull over the driver multiple times, but she sped off.

The chase continued into Broward County and Hollywood. That's when troopers performed a PIT maneuver, which sent the BMW spiraling and into an SUV.

The driver—identified as Jacqueline Maxson—was arrested, and she faces multiple charges, including reckless driving, fleeing, and eluding and resisting an officer. She was released on bond.

When troopers asked Maxson why she didn't stop, she explained through tears she simply had a need for speed.

“I don’t know, I just wanted to go fast,” she says in the dashcam video. “I was just trying to go to Easter Sunday.”
