Video: Ark. State Trooper Crashes into Pickup to End High-Speed Chase

Dashboard camera footage shows Arkansas State Police troopers pursuing a man wanted on drug trafficking charges in a wild chase that reached speeds of up to 120 mph.

Arkansas State Police troopers were involved in a wild high-speed chase recently that reached speeds of up to 120 mph before violently stopping a fleeing pickup truck.

The incident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. May 20 in Little Rock when an Arkansas State Police troopers tried to pull over a driver wanted on drug trafficking charges, PoliceActivity reports. Christopher Monroe had fled state police a day earlier, and in April, an arrest warrant in Rockwell County, Texas, was issued for him.

Troopers tried to box in Monroe, but he was able to elude them. As the chase continued, a trooper tried to execute a PIT maneuver, but that didn't work, and the trooper struck a concrete barrier. 

The chase continued at speeds of up to 120 mph and crossed the Arkansas River. A trooper was finally able to collide with Monroe's pickup truck, causing it to roll and hitting a wall before landing on its wheels.

Monroe was taken into custody, and troopers discovered 64 grams of ecstasy, 100 grams of meth, 436 grams of cocaine, 89 grams of fentanyl pills, 182 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of heroin and 46 grams of Xanax. A Taurus handgun also was seized.

Monroe was charged with trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, possession of narcotics and methamphetamine with intent to deliver, felony fleeing, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, aggravated assault of law enforcement and criminal mischief.
