Recently released body camera footage captured a harrowing high-speed Oklahoma police chase last week that led to officers firing on a stolen SUV as it rammed another cruiser.
The incident happened Aug. 1 as police and the Oklahoma Highway pursued an SUV that was stolen from a Sand Springs Tractor Supply store, KOTV-TV reports. During the chase, which reached speeds of at least 90 mph and lasted for over 20 minutes, a trooper tries to stop the fleeing vehicle with a tactical vehicle intervention.
Following the maneuver, a Sand Springs officer fired at the SUV, which rammed another officer's unit. Bodycam footage from the officer in the rammed cruiser also captured the officer shooting through the windshield toward the SUV.
The gunfire didn't end the chase, which continued as the SUV headed the wrong way down a highway. Eventually, three suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. They were apprehended after someone spotted them and called 9-1-1.
