Watch Ind. Sheriff's Deputy Save Choking Driver on Roadside

May 1, 2023
After overhearing a Live 9-1-1 call about a choking driver, a Noble County sheriff's deputy quickly responded to the nearby location and performed the Heimlich maneuver, saving the woman.

An Indiana deputy saved a choking driver after hearing a caller talking with a dispatcher system last month.

Noble County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Weber was on patrol April 21 when he heard a call on the Live 9-1-1, the agency stated in a social media post. The caller told the dispatcher that a driver was choking nearby, and Weber immediately responded to the call, reaching the scene before an officer was even assigned.

Once at the scene, Weber performed the Heimlich maneuver on the choking driver and was able to dislodge the obstruction. The rescue was captured on the deputy's dashboard camera.

"Job well done Jerry, you are truly an asset to the department and you make all of us very proud!" the sheriff's office stated. "Keep up the great work you do for the citizens of Noble County!"
