Texas police apprehended a driver following a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash and a brief foot chase last week.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday as a Lufkin police officer tried to pull over a man in a Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation, the department stated in an online release. A high-speed chase began when the driver refused to stop, and he reached speeds over 100 mph during the pursuit.
After several minutes, the driver lost control of his car and overturned. He then fled on foot but was quickly captured by police after he unsuccessfully tried to jump a fence.
Officers found the driver with methamphetamine when he was arrested. He was charged with evading arrest, evading arrest with a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
