An Iowa State Patrol trooper had a close call last week when a truck slammed into a car while the trooper was talking to the driver during a traffic stop.
The incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Friday when a trooper had pulled over a vehicle along Highway 218 in Coralville, KGAN-TV reports. As the trooper was talking to the driver from the passenger side, a truck came barreling through and sideswiped the stopped vehicle, startling the trooper but leaving him uninjured.
The Iowa State Patrol released dashboard camera footage of the incident.
"We are THANKFUL that Trooper Fairbanks and the two drivers involved walked away from this VERY avoidable crash just a few days ago," the agency stated in a social media post.
