Axon is delighted to announce that our Virtual Reality course, Interactive Case Law I, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first-ever virtual reality course to receive certification from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) National Certification Program™. This certification represents a significant milestone for Axon VR's program and stands as a noteworthy achievement in the evolution of law enforcement training.IADLEST's mission revolves around supporting the development of professional training standards in public safety through research, collaboration, and information sharing. These efforts enable state and international partners to establish effective and defensible training standards. In simple terms, IADLEST rigorously evaluates training content and courses tailored for law enforcement and corrections officers, certifying those that meet their criteria for credibility and effectiveness. For years, IADLEST has played a crucial role in assisting agencies nationwide in identifying and funding training programs for the continued education of officers. While 'Interactive Case Law I' is the first Axon VR training course to receive IADLEST Certification, Axon has several other IADLEST-certified training courses. These courses include 'Axon Body-worn Camera 3 Instructor Certification,' which certifies instructors to teach Axon Body 3 fundamentals within their agency, and 'De-escalation as an Outcome,' a one-hour course offered within TASER Master Instructor School that emphasizes de-escalation training for attendees.

The certified Axon VR course, 'Interactive Case Law I,' focuses on the landmark 2016 case, Estate of Armstrong v. Village of Pinehurst et al., and its impact on training standards. In this immersive VR scenario, trainees receive education on the outcomes of the landmark 2016 case, Estate of Armstrong v. Village of Pinehurst et al., and how this case has influenced TASER training standards. Trainees are dispatched to a similar call involving an individual deemed a "danger-to-self" who needs public safety intervention. What IADLEST certification means for you

This certification opens the door for Axon VR ‘Interactive Case Law I’ to be widely accepted by most of the nation's state-level Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Boards. IADLEST-certified training programs can also provide advantages for agencies seeking grant funding for their training initiatives. Grant funding often hinges on the quality and relevance of the training, and courses meeting national standards can streamline the grant application process for many agencies. As Axon VR continues to expand its content library and more modules receive certification, agencies will have new opportunities to explore additional avenues for grant funding.
