A New Canaan police K-9 was killed in a freak accident on Sunday.
The K-9 named Rocky died after choking on a ball during a training session, according to WTNH-TV.
The police officer who handled Rocky attempted to save the dog, but was unsuccessful.
"(He) took every life saving measure he could, but he couldn't reach the ball in the dog's throat," Sgt. Carol Ogrinc told the news station.
The 3-year-old German Sheppard had only been with the department since November.
Officials said that they'll look into whether any changes need to be made to prevent this from happening to another dog.
