Driver Pins N.M. Police Officer Against Cruiser, Drags Him

When a Roswell police officer approached an unresponsive driver, the man accelerated his car, pinning the officer against his vehicle and dragging him to the other side of the road.

A New Mexico police officer was injured after he was pinned against his cruiser and dragged along a roadway by a fleeing suspect Friday.

The incident happened at 9 a.m. as Roswell police responding to an unresponsive man who was stopped at traffic light, KRQE-TV reports. When an officer approached the car's driver side to reach inside, the driver accelerated and sped off.

The driver's actions pinned the officer against his own vehicle and then dragged him to the other side of the road. The officer only suffered minor injuries to his leg, and he's expected to recover.

Police apprehended the driver and are continuing to investigate the incident.
